Heather Metzler
ERYT500 + YACEP. Studio Co-Owner. Heather Metzler took her first yoga class in 1994 as a college PE credit and never really left the mat. She began teaching at Wilmington Yoga Center in 2005, and has been an integral part of the WYC community for over two decades. In 2020 she became a studio co-owner and continues to shape the studio through teaching, mentorship, and leadership.
An E-RYT500 + YACEP, Heather is a graduate of the Kunga Yoga School (200 & 500 hour) and has completed additional certifications in Prenatal Yoga, Yoga for Trauma, Thai Yoga Massage, Kunga Power Vinyasa, and Yoga Therapeutics. She is the creator of WYC’s Empowered Vinyasa 200-hour Teacher Training and co-leads the WYC 300-hour trainings. Heather’s teaching is steady, intelligent, and deeply embodied. She values consistency and practice that support real life. Her classes emphasize thoughtful sequencing, breath awareness, and presence, inviting students to feel strong, grounded, and at home in their bodies.
As a retreat leader, Heather has guided students locally and internationally, including retreats in Costa Rica, Scotland, Dominican Republic, Italy, Bald Head Island, Asheville, and service trips to the Home of Hope Orphanage in Kerala, India. Whether close to home or abroad, she is known for creating spaces that feel intentional, nourishing, and welcoming.

RYT500 + RCYT. Studio ManagerErin Powley has been teaching joyful, grounding yoga classes to students of all ages since receiving her 200-hour Mindfulness-Based Yoga certification in 2021.
She has gone on to attain her 300-hour certification from the Wilmington Yoga Center in 2023 and her 95-hour Kids Yoga Teacher Training from Youth Alliance Yoga of Chicago in 2025. Influenced by teachers Jess Bichler, Heather Metzler, and Frances Murchison, Erin aims to weave mindfulness, compassion, and playfulness into every class. She offers a unique invitation for playfulness and creativity in her adult vinyasa yoga classes at Wilmington Yoga Center, where she rounds out her professional role as studio manager, head of marketing, and retreat coordinator. Erin leads both national and international retreats rooted in the understanding that we all benefit from opportunities to unplug and reconnect with our inner sense of wonder and adventure.
Her own journey began in 2017, when yoga helped her ease anxiety and reconnect with her body. Today, she finds inspiration in the simplicity of mindful movement, using breath and presence to feel steady and balanced. Erin revels in the sense of play yoga can spark, and presents a lighthearted, down-to-earth approach to yoga for all of her students.
